Beyond the Usual: New Solos and Studies for Horn Sunday, November 12 3-5pm   Brady Education Center Auditorium St. Thomas 

Come participate in a unique gathering for a hands-on exploration of new solo and etude music for horn, suitable for students of all levels. 

Music selections will be sent out ahead of time to review and practice ahead of time. Selections will be taken from two solo collections -  WINDS OF CHANGE and LIFT!, brand new collections representing a diverse demographic of composers. Also included will be samplings from etude books on Brazilian rhythms as well as jazz etudes for horn.

This gathering emphasizes COLLABORATION rather than performance. St. Thomas horn students will partner with other participants on a designated tune to read together - part or all of the piece. Becky Sun will collaborate on piano. 

• Music sent ahead of time to partners

• Partners read part or all of their solo tune or duet, with piano

• Wagner tuba and Hand horn tryouts

• Everyone gets to play horn ensemble tunes together

• Drawings for PRIZES:  Rotor oil, slide grease, a copy of LIFT!

 

Priority will be given to students who want to play alongside someone to read a new piece, but there are enough tunes for non-students to collaborate too! The goal is to encourage active participation in learning while networking among hornists of all ages and stages.
